No matter where I go, I always enjoy visiting markets that are not for tourists but for locals. You can catch a glimpse of the daily lives of the locals and see things for sale that I rarely see in Japan. Looking at the map, I saw that there was such a market near my hotel, so I decided to visit it immediately. It was a market with a brave name, Chenggong Market (Success Market).
Entering the market, I found many stores open for business. Even though the market was crowded with shoppers, it was hard to tell what success meant just by looking around a little. I am not sure where the secret to success lies, whether only successful people can open stores in the market, or what success means in the first place.
At any rate, I was walking around the market, enjoying the local atmosphere. In the meantime, I came to a delicatessen. On the wagon were several bowls of prepared foods. With so many different kinds of side dishes on sale, it was hard to decide which one to buy.
