In the large Khlong Toei market, the area where the butcher shops were gathered was also large. In front of every butcher shop, there was a large table covered with meat for sale. The sight of meat on display in every direction was breathtaking. On the table in front of me, there was a huge pile of chicken thighs.
As I was walking along, looking at the huge amount of chicken and the people working there, a man came and stood in front of me. Unlike me, he was a customer who had come to buy meat, and with a grim look on his face, he began to place his order with the clerk.
When the clerk finished preparing the item, the man pulled a bill out of his pocket and reached out to hand it to the clerk. Meanwhile, the waiter, holding the plastic bag containing the thigh meat, kept his gaze down. It was as if he was overwhelmed by the customer's fierceness.
I stood beside them and watched the whole scene. But I couldn't figure out why the customer was buying the leg meat with a grim look on his face until the very end. Did he think that he should not be underestimated by the clerk?
