The streets of Bangkok's Chinatown were crowded as I walked. The shops were lined up along both sides of the street, displaying a variety of foodstuffs, and many shoppers were coming and going, probably not attracted by the smell. The store in the photo was one of them. There were roasted chickens and fish on the tables in front of the store, and roasted chickens were hanging from the ceiling. I guessed that the roasted chicken was the main attraction of this store.
At first glance, this shop looked like any other delicatessen in Bangkok. But if you look closely, you can see a pile of Zongzi next to the fish on the table. Looking at the Zongzi wrapped in bamboo leaves, I realize now that this is not just a corner of Bangkok, but a corner of Chinatown.
An elderly woman was standing on the other side of the table. She was probably the owner of this delicatessen. She was watching the shoppers come and go through the roasted chicken hanging from the ceiling. She looked as if she would start shouting her sales pitch as soon as the shoppers stopped for a moment..
