A young boy stopped in his tracks in a narrow alleyway in Mumbai, turning to look back at me. His expression was one of quiet curiosity as he stared, trying to make sense of my presence. A small necklace glinted around his neck, and while he wore a T-shirt, his lower half was bare.
In this area, many homes lack private toilets, meaning residents often rely on shared facilities outside. Perhaps he had just finished using one and hadn’t yet pulled his pants back on. Or maybe he was simply in a hurry to get home, unconcerned about his state of dress.
Then, out of nowhere, a foreigner with a camera appeared before him. Caught off guard by this unexpected visitor, he froze, his gaze locked onto mine. It was as if, in that moment, he had completely forgotten about his own bare legs—his attention now focused entirely on the unfamiliar figure standing before him.
