A city is a living thing, and over time it will change its appearance. When construction is taking place here and there in the process of change, I feel that the city is entering a new era, and at the same time, I sense that the economy is booming. Interestingly, however, this does not seem to be the case when looking at the redevelopment of the Shibuya Station area. In contrast to my visit to India and China, where I saw construction projects all over the city and felt that the era of China and India was about to begin, I did not feel any excitement when I looked at the construction sites in Shibuya. I only feel that the underground passageways will become more complicated again. Perhaps it is because I have been in a recession for most of my life since I can remember.
I noticed that a rather large complex had been built in the Sakuragaoka area of Shibuya, which until now had not given me a very bright image. The area, which used to have a cluttered impression with many small stores, has been neatly improved and a skyscraper is rising above it. This is the Shibuya Sakura Stage. The area is said to have commercial facilities, medical facilities, serviced apartments, and residential areas. However, there are few facilities that interest me. If I had to venture a guess, I would say bookstores. There are no big bookstores in Shibuya, so I wonder how big the bookstore will be.
