As in other Southeast Asian countries, coconuts are not uncommon in Thailand. In Thailand, coconuts are made into juice and drunk, or made into milk and used in cooking. They even eat the stalks themselves. Coconuts have a wide range of uses. Because coconuts are such a common ingredient, there are stores selling coconuts at the Khlong Toei Market in Bangkok.
While wandering around the market, I came to a store where coconuts were randomly piled up in a pile. I could see no other products, so I guessed it was a coconut specialty store. The shopkeepers were working around the piles of coconuts. But not many customers were coming in. I stood at the storefront for a while, but not a single customer came. The store has a laid-back atmosphere.
I had no way of knowing whether they were buying whole coconuts or just the oil, but I wanted to see how they were taking their coconuts home. Meanwhile, the shopkeepers were quietly going about their business, ready for any visitor, even if no one came.
