A large number of fish were displayed under parasols out in the aisles of the Khlong Toei market. This area was densely populated with fishmongers, and a workshop was set up inside the fishmonger's shop. A table was set beside a tray of fish for sale, and two men were busily at work. The table was strewn with fish. One was cutting off the heads of the fish and the other was removing the scales. After all this work, the fish would probably be put on the shelves for the first time.

Japanese people consume a lot of seafood, about 150 grams per day. But there are people around the world who eat much more. People in the Maldives are said to eat as much as 380 grams of seafood per day. According to a TripAdvisor survey, Japan ranks sixth. I thought that the Thai people consume as much seafood as the Japanese, if not more, because of the large amount of seafood sold at Khlong Toei Market, but this was not the case. According to the TripAdvisor survey, Thailand was not listed among the top 25 countries in the world.
