I had planned to take a ferry across the sea on my way back from Jogashima, but there was no ferry available at a convenient time, so I could not take the ferry on my way back after all. I had no luck with the Jogashima ferry, it seems. The Jogashima Ohashi Bridge, which is easily crossed by bus when coming to the island, is large and long when crossed on foot. I had to go down a long flight of stairs to get to the seaside.
I walked along the seaside toward the downtown area of Misaki Port. If I could have walked in a straight line, I would have reached there immediately, but the intricate coastline did not allow me to do so. I'm not sure which is more appropriate, the harbor or the boatyard, but I was walking along a bay where fishing boats were moored on the seashore.
Most of the fishing boats were empty, with only the boats bobbing in the waves, but unusually there was a fishing boat with people on board. A man was sitting under a sunshade with a cutting board in front of him. The man was slicing fish. When I called out to him, thinking he was making some snacks to accompany his drink in the peaceful afternoon, he told me, "No, it's fish food." It was the kind of fish food that I would consider tasty even if I dipped it in soy sauce.
