Just because there are a lot of people gathered in the mosque does not mean that people who live near the mosque necessarily participate in the Friday mass prayer. There are naturally people who do not participate. Not all residents are Muslims, and even those who are Muslims are not necessarily devout believers.
While there were men in the mosque listening intently to the sermon, there were also more people than you might think walking in the surrounding alleys who were not going to the mosque and were just relaxing and spending their time. Since it is the duty of men only to gather at the mosque on Fridays for prayers, women spend their time as usual, regardless of the prayers. In addition, there are many men who did not participate in the mass prayer.
The two men in this photo also did not attend the mass prayer at the mosque. One was slumped on a bench, while the other was slumped next to a round cutting board on the ground as if they were waiting for the group service to end with doing nothing.
