A man was standing next to a table in a fish shop in the Khlong Toei market. He was wearing a pitch-black waterproof apron. It is something you would see at a fish shop in Japan. On the other hand, the round cutting board on the table is a shape not seen in Japan. It is shaped like a log, similar to those often seen in Taiwan. Perhaps round cutting boards are also common in Thailand.
The man standing next to the table had a scale remover in his hand and was silently removing the scales. The peeling scales were scattered around the man. The man seems to be distancing himself from the hustle and bustle of his surroundings as he continues his work in an unobtrusive manner.
At the Khlong Toei market, not only can one see a wide variety of foodstuffs being sold, but one can also see people preparing the food for sale. It is fun to see people working, as it gives a sense of liveliness. Since it is mainly locals who come to this market to buy, you will not encounter any touts while walking around, which is another point that makes this market enjoyable.
