A man wearing a water-proof apron stood beside a table in a fishmonger in Khlong Toei Market. A round wooden chopping block was placed on the table. It was very similar to the chopping block I saw in Taiwan. It might be also common in Thailand.
A fish was put on the block and the man was just removing scale there. A tool for removing scale was in his hand and he kept moving it without saying a word. The fish scales were scattered around him.
In this Khlong Toei Market, it was possible to see not only many displayed foodstuffs but also the work on the preparation. And the work fascinated me so much. When I saw people working busily, I felt the spark of life.
The shopper came to this market was local people. No matter how much I walked around, no one touted me.
