There was a concentration of butcher shops in the area where I was walking around in the Khlong Toei Market. Meat was sold in the same way in all stores, and it was difficult to sense the difference between stores. So I wondered on what basis the throngs of shoppers were deciding which store to buy their meat from. I can't tell the difference because they all look the same to me. Perhaps there is a difference in brand or place of origin that I just don't understand.
In such a situation, I turned my lens to a woman who was happily working wearing a bracelet and a hair band. There was a cutting board on the table with a knife on it. The woman was slicing a piece of pork.
Upon closer inspection, the kitchen knife she was using had a slightly unusual shape. The blade is a circle, and it looks as if a circle divided into four equal parts is attached to it. Is it suitable for slicing pork? In any case, it may be a common shape in Thailand, but it is not so common in Japan at least.
