Yoshinoya is right in front of you as you exit the ticket gates of Yurakucho Station, and its location gives the impression of being crowded from morning. There is a to-go counter by the front entrance, but at this time no one was placing an order, and only the silhouettes of the waiters working at the counter were visible. The waiter seemed to be concentrating on his work, silently working with his hands.
Yoshinoya has a surprisingly long history. One would think that the first store in Tsukiji was the beginning, but in fact, Yoshinoya was founded in Nihonbashi in 1899, before the Tsukiji market was established, when the fish market was still located in Nihonbashi. When the fish market was relocated from Nihonbashi to Tsukiji due to the Great Kanto Earthquake, Yoshinoya was also relocated to Shin-Ohashi-dori in Tsukiji in 1926, leading to the first store in Tsukiji later.
