I stepped onto the grounds of the Myo Ma Market in Thanlyin and walked down the hallway facing the street. The corridor was lined with products overflowing from the stores. Despite all this merchandise, there were no shoppers to be seen. The only people I could see were the market clerks. The air around the market was languid. The shopkeepers are completely engulfed by the laziness and seem to have no time to do anything. I almost feel as if I might die of boredom watching them. I don't intend to buy anything here. I just wandered around.
In the hallway in front of the clothing store, there were many items on display, and the store clerks were sitting on chairs set out in the hallway. They were not conversing with each other, just sitting in a daze. Since they see each other every day, they probably have nothing to say to each other. One of them was a young woman. She, too, had nothing to do and was passing the time in a daze. She was staring off into the distance, resting her cheekbones on the floor.
