I proceeded through the aisles of the roof-covered Xinfu Market. The aisle, lined with stores on both sides, went straight and far. It seemed to go on forever. Even though I went deeper and deeper into the market, the market did not end.
Unfortunately, the deeper I went, the more stores were shuttered. Perhaps the trend toward shuttered shopping malls is coming to Taiwan as well. Certainly, the age range of the people walking around is high. The woman who was sitting on a chair in the aisle and looking at the people coming and going with an air of price gouging was also elderly.
