Walking around Nishi-Shinjuku, the Cocoon Tower stands out for its rounded appearance that hides it from the surrounding area. As the name suggests, the building is designed to resemble a cocoon. The building has an unusual shape, bulging from the bottom to the top and then shrinking again after crossing the center of the building. It is said that the client ordered the building to be "non-square" when designing it. The result is a unique building that has won the Emporis Skyscraper Award, an award given to skyscrapers.

When I go to Nishi-Shinjuku, I often visit this ingenious building. It is not that I am a student of Tokyo Mode Gakuen. I just tend to visit the Book First Shinjuku store, which is housed in this building. This bookstore is huge, and just looking at the books stacked on the shelves naturally kills a lot of time. There are still some large bookstores near Shinjuku Station. There is a Kinokuniya at the east exit and Book First at the west exit, a far cry from Shibuya, where PARCO no longer has a bookstore and Book First is no longer in business.
