A woman wearing a conical hat was setting up a stall in front of a store at the end of the Bailan market. The stall is separate from the store on the ground floor of the building, but the woman looks as if her stall is part of the store. She casually places her own basket next to a table in the store.
The woman wearing a conical hat had very little left to sell at her stall. All that was for sale was a bunch of bananas and a few bamboo shoots. The woman peddler rested her feet on the basket with a bored look on her face. She had sold most of her goods and had nothing more to do. She was watching the traffic in a daze.
Eventually, a female shopper wearing sunglasses appeared in front of the stall. She passed by without looking at the empty baskets in the stall. A stall with so little to sell is as good as nonexistent to shoppers. The woman in the braided hat did not change her expression even after witnessing such a scene.
