Since there is no building covering the entire market, it is not clear where the market is located. Perhaps the market is the area lined with stores selling daily necessities. In that sense, the place where I was walking was a little out of the market. Although stores lined both sides of the street, most of them were restaurants.
Among them, I found a store where people were gathering. This was the only place that had the air of a market. It was a fruit store. At first I thought it might be a grocery store, but the sign on the front of the store read "果菜専売店" in large letters. "果菜" literally means fruits and vegetables. The fruits on display in the store were all fruits, including mangoes and apples. In such a case, it is convenient if the sign is written in traditional Chinese characters, so that I can somehow read the meaning. However, when it is written in simplified Chinese characters, even the Chinese characters I know are unfamiliar to me, and this is not the case here.
I don't know if the goods sold here are inexpensive or not. But I guess they are cheap because the place is crowded with many locals. Customers are constantly coming to buy. I followed the example of the locals and bought some mangoes.
