The Myo Ma Market was built in a grid of aisles. The market, which is not that large, is so well organized that there is no way to get lost. A relatively wide aisle stretches across the center of the market. The stores lined up on both sides of the aisle all had extended eaves to protect them from the strong sunlight, and shoppers came and went.
Unlike the Bogyoke Aung San Market in Yangon, this is a market for locals. All that is sold here are daily necessities such as fresh food. Not many foreigners go out of their way to visit this market. I did not see any foreign tourists other than myself when I wandered around the market. The only people walking around were locals.
As I looked at the people walking around, I noticed that they were carrying the same kind of plastic shopping bags. It was as if there was a rule that they had to use those bags for shopping. Or is it just a fad? I am not sure, but the woman in the photo was also walking with such a shopping bag on her head.
