Walking down a large street, I soon came across another street market. It seems that in downtown Yangon, which is laid out in a grid pattern, wide horizontal roads are often busy with traffic, while narrow vertical roads are often used as street markets. This street market was also crowded.
There were many shoppers coming and going along the road. For people living in this area, it is still rare to shop at commercial facilities such as supermarkets, and these street markets are the place to buy fresh food, but I saw supermarkets for local people outside the downtown area, so these street markets may soon be replaced by the supermarkets of the future.
I could hear people coming and going at the street market, talking to each other. An elderly woman stopped in front of a vegetable seller. She was talking to the seller about something. I couldn't understand what she was saying, but the seller had vegetables in her hand, so she might have been negotiating the price.
