Sampeng Market in Bangkok is a place where stores selling miscellaneous goods and accessories gather, but there are also food stalls selling food inside. Everyone, whether working or shopping, is hungry, so there is a need for the food sold at the stalls. The stall in the photo is a noodle stall quietly operating in a corner of the market.
The stall is run by a woman, who has a pot on a wagon at the end of the aisle. She boils the noodles next to the sunglasses and accessories. A woman customer is standing in front of the wagon, waiting for the noodles to boil. In her hand is a smartphone, and the woman is staring at the screen. It is the same in Japan and Thailand that whenever there is a little free time, people check their phones.
It is not often that they have an urgent call, but sadly, they look at the screen. This is probably the first step to becoming addicted to smartphones. In this day and age, it takes a talent for self-discipline to be able to spend even a leisurely moment without looking at your phone.
