The sandbar on which the Ye Le Pagoda stands is not very large. It doesn't take long to walk all the way from one end to the other. Just a few minutes. After walking all over the sandbar, I decided to return to Kyauktan town. I quickly made my way to the boat ramp, but there were no boats running. It was just lunchtime. I guessed that the boat operators would want to take their time and eat their lunch, so I had no choice. I had to wait for the lunch break to end without doing anything on the small sandbar.
I stood at the water's edge and looked at the surface of the river. The river water was muddy. In Japan, it looks like a river after a flood. Rivers in Southeast Asia tend to be this color. Instead of being too muddy to drink, the fertile soil must be flowing down from upstream.
As I was doing this, I noticed three boys hanging out by the stairs of the boat ramp. They didn't seem to have come to this sandbar to pay their respects. They were probably working on a boat connecting the sandbar to the shore. This must be their lunch break. But the three of them did not seem to be having lunch at all. They just seemed to be sitting down and waiting for the afternoon work to start.
