Leaving Kyauktan's wharf behind, I returned to the main street again and began walking down the main street away from the center of town. Soon the number of stores and the number of people walking around would decrease dramatically. The main street quickly took on the appearance of a quiet country road. Even so, a number of bicycle cabs were parked on the side of the road, and their drivers were waiting for customers. I wondered if they were waiting for people coming from the docks. The man in the photo is one of the drivers waiting for customers on the side of such a long, quiet road.
The man is sitting on the saddle of his car and is playing with his phone. A smartphone would be a great way to pass the time. It must be a lot more fun than pedaling a bicycle cab, but just fiddling with your phone doesn't pay the bills. I should be looking for a customer, but the man didn't even look at me when I approached him. He kept staring at the screen of his phone. I was worried that he might squander my business opportunity.
