The market in tranquil Kyauktan has become a hub for the local people. Many people come to shop at the market, which sells a variety of goods, and bicycle cabs wait in front of the market for these shoppers. This must be a good place to make money. The man in the photo was a bicycle cab driver waiting for customers.
Unfortunately, there were not that many customers at that time, and the pedicab driver seemed to be waiting for them to arrive. As I approached him, the man quickly raised himself up and began to look at me. Maybe he thought I was a customer. But he soon realized that I was not, and stared at me holding the camera without saying a word.
Behind the man was a light blue sign. The sign, shaped like a ship's screw, belonged to Telenor, a Norwegian telecommunications company. I had often seen this sign in India and Bangladesh and thought it was the same as the Grameenphone one, but it was actually the Telenor logo. It seems that I misunderstood it because Telenor operates jointly with Grameen Bank in India and Bangladesh.
