A woman with a front cover was about to get down to work at the Yamuliao Market. A chicken was lying on the chopping board in front of her. In the woman's hand was a hair remover, and with a serious expression on her face, she seemed to be contemplating where to begin her work. She was carefully trying to remove the remaining laying hairs from the chicken.
That is a very tedious and daunting task. But I suppose it is an essential step to make the chicken tasty. When I was a child, I once lost my appetite for chicken when I found some hairs left on the meat. That memory came back to me.
And yet, I cannot help but admire the enthusiasm for food in the Chinese cultural sphere. The idea that one must put in the time and effort to create a delicious dish is deeply rooted in the Chinese culture. This spirit seemed to be condensed in the sight of a woman carefully removing the laying hairs of a chicken right in front of me.
