On the table of a butcher shop in the Yamuliao Market, carved chicken meat was laid out in a narrow space. Each was neatly separated by part, ready to be sold at a moment's notice. The color and sheen of the meat, a testament to its freshness, was eye-catching.
On the other side of the table, a woman wearing a front cover and gloves was working silently. Her hands move without a break as she diligently processes the chicken meat for sale. Her skilled movements showed that she had made this work a part of her daily routine.
One chicken caught my eye, sitting on the edge of the table. The chicken was still unprocessed, its head hanging off the table. It was in an unstable state, as if it would fall off with the slightest shock. I was a little curious as to why this chicken was the only one left unprocessed and on the store shelves.
Is it a demonstration to show that they sell fresh chicken? Or is it placed there to be processed on the spot for special orders? Either way, that one chicken stood out from the rest of the meat.
