There were many stalls near the hotel where I stayed in Yangon, but of course there were also many ordinary stores. The store in the photo was located right near the hotel, and there were many bread-like items on display. This seemed to be a store that sold a little snack.
Since this is a part of Chinatown, this store might be run by an overseas Chinese. I could see boxed with Chinese characters written on them in the showcase placed in front of the store. However, there is nothing Chinese about the exterior of the store. There is no signboard with Chinese characters written in big letters, so at first glance, you would not be able to tell that it is an overseas Chinese store. Compared to cities in other Southeast Asian countries, the overseas Chinese in Yangon seem to have blended in well with the Burmese people. Well, maybe that's one of the ways to get by as an overseas Chinese.
There were two women in front of the counter. They seemed to be bored and chatting with each other. They were wearing matching red T-shirts, which reminded me of the Chinese national flag.
