In a corner of a Buddhist temple in Luang Prabang, a young monk stood leaning against a wall with his right shoulder out. In his hand he held a cymbal-like instrument. It is a musical instrument made by striking or rubbing two inflated disks together, and is used at Buddhist pujas. The young monk was playing the cymbals to the beat of the drums. Perhaps it was part of their training, but the monks did not seem to be enjoying themselves. The sound of the young man's tapping was unfortunately not very pleasant. Unfortunately, the sound of the young man's drumming did not seem very lively.
