While walking around Luang Prabang, which is registered as a World Heritage Site, I often see Buddhist monks. There are many temples, and each temple has a large number of monks. When I was walking down the street in front of the museum, I saw a monk coming from the other side.
The monk was wearing a robe called Kasaya and his right shoulder was exposed, and he was holding an umbrella. There are many monks with parasols here. They are not parasol men, but parasol monks. When they put on their robes, their right shoulder is exposed. I guess they are trying to avoid getting sunburned on their right shoulder because of the strong sunshine. As proof of this, there were very few ordinary men who are not wearing a Kasaya with an umbrella. Only monks hold umbrellas. In Luang Prabang, there were monks with umbrellas wandering around.
