As I walked along, I came to the edge of the Khlong Toei market. There was a butcher shop, the back of which was in full view of the aisles of shoppers coming and going. A young man with straight bangs was working there.
In front of him was a large blue container filled with water into which was submerged a piece of meat, probably pork. The young man's job seemed to be to clean the meat in this container before placing it in the store, and when I walked by, he was just taking out a pig's foot and washing it.
As I watched, the young man's washing was quite messy. He was washing them with a rag-like cloth and scrubbing vigorously with it. Looking at them, it was hard to believe that this meat was going to be put into people's mouths afterwards. Maybe these meats are for sale, but maybe they are not edible.
Regardless of my speculation, the young man seemed to be enjoying his work. He seemed to enjoy washing the meat and smiled at me when I pointed my camera at him.
