Most of the stores in the large Khlong Toei market are fresh food stores. There are butchers, fishmongers, and grocers. Looking at the food sold, seafood, fruits, and vegetables are sold that are rarely seen in Japan. However, the items sold at butcher shops are the same as those in Japan. Beef, pork, and chicken. No wild game meat is sold here. In Japan, eating wild game meat has become something of a boom, but perhaps it is different in Bangkok.
While I was walking around, I came to a butcher shop selling pork. There were several hunks of pork lined up in front of the store, and two women were working there. A woman in a pink hat was slicing the pork into small pieces in the back of the store, and another woman was wrestling with a large hunk of pork. She is holding what looks like a small knife in her hand. I wondered if she was shaving the hair on the pork.
The woman holding the small knife opened her eyes when she noticed me. She looked at my camera with a frightened expression on her face as she placed her hand on the large piece of pork.
