The day I visited Shiluodian was apparently the day of a festival. A temporary stage had been set up on the temple grounds and a play was being performed. It was not a mere entertainment, but a dedication to the god enshrined in the shrine. It may be similar to the Noh plays performed at Japanese Shinto shrines.

Both sides of the entrance to the hall were decorated with large flower rings. The writing in the center of the ring told me that this day was the birth anniversary of a god named Kong Tek Chun Ong. Although I did not know what kind of god Kong Tek Chun Ong was, visitors kept coming to the shrine. I decided to join the locals and pay my respects. In a place like this, it is better to follow the local customs. If you are lucky, you may even get a share of the blessings.
