Walking along Asakusabashi, I came across an old-fashioned store with a stone facade. It looked as if it had not been in business for a long time, and there was nothing where one would expect to see a signboard, and the shutters were firmly down.
This type of architecture is called billboard architecture, and many stores were built in this style after the Great Kanto Earthquake. Today, it has a retro flavor, which I personally like, but it is gradually becoming less and less common as time goes by. This store has not been in business for a long time, so it may be torn down in the near future.
As I look out the front from a distance, many people pass by. But no one pays attention to architecture as I do. The pedestrians and cyclists in the photo also pass by in front of the shutters as if nothing happened.
