The temple in the photo is the Bagh Bhairab Temple in Panauti, a Newari style temple built in the 16th century, whose principal image is Bhairava, one of Shiva's incarnations. Bhairava means "one to be feared" and symbolizes the fearful and disturbing aspect of Shiva, the god of destruction. Often with an expression of indignation, the Bhairava of this temple is said to look like an angry tiger.
Being built in the Newar style, this temple also had a triple roof with a band called a Dhvaju hanging from the top. This is a symbol of the path of the descent of God. In other words, when an angry tiger descends, it comes from the sky along this belt.
