I came to a Confucian temple in Taipei. The current building of this temple was rebuilt in 1937 after the Japanese army demolished the original building. Despite the familiarity of Confucianism in Japan, I wondered why the Japanese army perpetrated shocking outrages.
When I visited this temple, nobody was in the precinct. By contrast to Taoist and Buddhist temples, it seemed not to be so popular. Maybe the reason was that Confucianism didn't promise the nd financial benefit.
Anyway, the precinct had a deserted feel. And I felt as if I was left alone. The feeling might be a real identity of the venerableness.
