I was walking along Shennong Old Street, a street that still retains its old town atmosphere. Although it was a bit too touristy, the atmosphere of the street was still pleasant and gave me a good sense of old Tainan. Both sides of the narrow street were lined with old-fashioned low-rise buildings, one of which caught my eye with its bright green painted door.
The door was tightly closed, and I could vaguely see a light on inside. But at the time, I assumed that the store was closed. I took a picture and casually left.
In fact, however, the store was open. A sign on the door read “開門了” in Chinese characters. I later learned that this meant that the store was open. If I had looked a little more carefully at that time, I might have been able to peek into the world beyond the door. Thinking about it, I was left with a bit of a regretful feeling.
