While relaxing, the train arrived at the terminal station. The station I arrived at was the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Station. The original station, Bori Bunder railway station, had become too small, so a new station was built in 1887.
This station building also once housed the headquarters of the Great Indian Peninsula Railway (one of the predecessors of the current Indian Railway). The design was so elegant that if you didn't know it was a station, it would be hard to believe it was just a transportation hub.
The Gothic Revival architecture of the station building has not only elegance but also history. The history of India as a colony of the European powers is also clearly felt.
