The sun was shining. The rainy season is approaching. Perhaps it is the effects of global warming, but I can't help but feel that spring, the most comfortable season, is getting shorter and shorter every year. I wonder if spring and autumn will soon disappear, leaving only hot summers and cold winters, like in Southeast Asian countries, where there are only two seasons. If the climate becomes subtropical, the words “Keichitsu" and “Kokumonosunawachiminoru," which describe the changing of the seasons, will become obsolete.
Standing in the entrance hall of a department store, I felt the sun pouring in relentlessly through the glass windows. The sun was so strong that people entering and exiting through the entrance were silhouetted, shadows of people wriggling across the shiny floor. These days I often see Chinese tourists shopping in department stores. However, it is difficult to determine whether the silhouetted figures and shadows moving on the ground belong to Chinese or Japanese tourists. Shadows and silhouettes have nothing to do with national borders or nationalities.
