This time I came to a fruit and vegetable store in the Khlong Toei market. There were many boxes in the store, and each box contained a different kind of fruit. Thailand is a tropical country. It is a country rich in fruits, where various kinds of fruits are sold not only in the market but also on the street.
This fruit store also sold many tropical fruits. The box in the foreground was filled with mangosteens. Mangosteen is not sold very often in Japan, but it is common in Bangkok.
A young woman was standing next to the box, sitting on her haunches, selecting a mangosteen from the box. But she was not a customer. She was a store clerk. Rather than choosing which one was the best, she was rearranging the mangosteens.
Upon closer inspection, I found an amulet called Phra Kruang on the woman's chest. These are small Buddha statues in the shape of Buddha or monks, and are common in Thailand. When traveling in Thailand, I often see people wearing a Phra Kruang around their necks.
