There is a bridge over the Kanda River that runs beside Ochanomizu Station. It is the Hijiri-bashi Bridge. It means Holy Bridge in Japanese. It is said that the name comes from the fact that it connects two holy places, Holy Resurrection Cathedral and Yushima Seido, located on both sides of the river. At night, the bridge is lit up and its light reflects on the surface of the river. The beautiful arches of the bridge could be seen faintly.

I think it is a luxury to build a beautiful bridge. People crossing the bridge cannot see it, and its exterior design has nothing to do with the ease of crossing it. There is no relationship between beauty and utility when viewed from a distance. But a beautiful structure adds a touch of class to a city. It is a luxurious existence.
