The river in this photo is the Nakashima River, which flows through Nagasaki city. When I visited, the water was low and I could see many rocks lying in the river. Even though this area is in the city and not that close to the mountains, all the rocks I saw were huge. They just liked the ones I see upstream. It was a little scary to think that if the river overflowed, these big rocks would come flowing down.
There was a promenade along the river where the rocks were lying all over the place. It was designed to be paved with stones just like the riverbed. While I was looking at the strangely unified river and promenade from the bridge, a woman appeared on the promenade. She must have been a local and was walking her dog. As I looked downstream, I could see an arched bridge. It was a nice day to walk along the river, and the dog seemed to be enjoying it.
From the promenade set up close to the surface of the river, people could not see any dense houses. Even though the river runs through the middle of the city, it was a nice promenade where people could escape the hustle and bustle of the city.
