The silhouette in this photo is Nicolai-do completed in 1891. Its formal nomenclature is the Holy Resurrection Cathedral. Many people get the wrong idea.
It is the main cathedral of the Japanese Orthodox Church and doesn't belong to the Russian Orthodox Church. Yet its name is derived from Nicholas of Japan who introduced the Eastern Orthodox Church to this country. A church belonged to the Russian Orthodox Church is in Meguro.
