While walking around downtown Yangon, I came across another open-air market. It seemed that open-air markets were held here and there. Like other open-air markets, the market here was also busy. A lot of stalls were spread out along the narrow streets, and shoppers were coming and going among the stalls. I could not help but feel that there was fierce competition for a place in the market with so many street vendors. And there must be many losers in the competition.
There was a woman standing at the edge of the open-air market. She had a tray hanging down from her neck, with a heap of grapes inside. The vaguely disoriented woman standing there might be one of the losers in the race for the spot. If she had been able to do business in the middle of the market, she might have sold more grapes. But in reality, she was able to secure a place at the edge of the open-air market, where there was still a pile of grapes to sell on the tray.
