The corridor that stretches through the middle of the Mae Klong railroad market is a railroad track. It is not an abandoned railroad track. It is an actual railroad track that is still in use and stretches into the market, with stores lining both sides of the track.
Anyone who visits the market walks on the tracks. What's unusual is that it's not only shoppers who come and go on this track. Since the line is not abandoned, trains still pass by as if they remembered.
When the trains run, the goods lined up beside the tracks are moved away so that they don't hit the trains. I thought it was quite a hassle to remove them every time a train came, but I was convinced when I heard that there were only four trains a day running here. Trains rarely run here, and when they don't, the atmosphere is as peaceful as any marketplace.
I looked to the side of the tracks and saw a variety of fruits. The owner, who was sitting near the goods, turned his head and scribbled something in a notebook on his lap. As long as the train was not running, the air here was relaxed.
