Food stalls are an essential part of the bustling wholesale district. There, food is readily available for the workers to fill their stomachs in between hard labor. The samosa shop in the photo is one such stall that supports the workers. Freshly fried and stuffed with spicy ingredients, samosas are the perfect snack to replenish the energy of the working men.
The faces of those buying samosas are serious, and one can sense their eagerness to eat efficiently in the short break they have. However, the words “Rs.10 FULL” on the price tag of the stall left me with a bit of a mystery: I could understand Rs.10 (less than 20 yen), but what does “FULL” mean? Does it mean “enough to fill your stomach?” Or does it mean that a “full-size samosa” is offered at this price? Is there such a thing as a full-size samosa?
