I came to a street called Ban Bat. It was called the Monk bowl village because many craftsmen who made alms bowls living in this small district. They still made monk bowls by handwork here. Among good company, the wave of mechanization has also come to this industry segment. Their skill was becoming rare and valuable. I heard that there were only five studios that kept producing bowls manually.
The sounds of hammers echoed in the narrow lanes. The woman was one of the craftsmen working there. She was adding the finishing touch, while painting bowls black one after another. The shiny black monk bowls were piled up on the other side of her.
