The air in the Buddhist temple, located in a building in downtown Yangon, seemed stagnant. After relaxing in front of the Buddha statues for a while, I felt the need to take a breath of fresh air. I went to the entrance and looked for my sandals. Then I saw a group of girls standing in front of the entranceway. The girls with shaved heads were wearing pink robes. These girls are Buddhist nuns. They were carrying begging bowls, so I guessed that they were about to go out to beg for alms.

The fact that they are going out to beg for alms means that they are practicing Buddhism in the same way as adult Buddhist nuns. However, they are still young girls in the early grades of elementary school in Japan, so they are chatting and showing interest in unfamiliar things. In the meantime, the young nuns' interest turned to the foreign tourist with a camera in the hands. When I pointed my lens at the girls lined up in front of me, they smiled at me in unison.
