Countless beckoning cats were placed in a corner of Gotoku-ji Temple. I can't help but feel that the number of beckoning cats has increased since my last visit to Gotoku-ji. It seems as if more and more beckoning cats are being left behind by visitors. All the beckoning cats placed around the temple are looking at the sky with their right hand raised in the air with a blank expression on their faces.
Although I fully understand that they are ornaments that bring good luck, I feel a little crazy looking at them. Evil spirits may not come close to these cats for fear of their expressionless faces, not knowing what they are thinking.
