As I wandered around the market, a large colander placed in plain sight caught my eye. There, in an empty space, was a heap of green vegetables. At first I thought they were green beans and looked at them without paying any attention, but when I got closer and took a closer look, I saw that they were green chili peppers.
When I thought it was a green bean, I only recognized it as a vegetable, but the moment I realized it was a green pepper, I subconsciously imagined how spicy it was. You even feel the illusion of stimulation on the tip of your tongue. I was strangely impressed by the fact that even though they may look similar, the way we feel about them can change so much depending on our knowledge. I guess this is exactly what a “conditioned reflex” is.
