Finishing our walk around the platform, I returned to the station building, an old-fashioned Yangon Central Station station building built more than 60 years ago. The ticket office was located in the center of the hall, which had a high roof and a stately atmosphere. It was an old-fashioned face-to-face sales at the counter. Looking around the hall, I did not see any kind of automatic ticket vending machine, so one had to buy a ticket at the counter. Above the counter was what appeared to be a timetable. Not many trains run through the country's most famous station.
A man in longyi stood in front of one of the windows. As I watched, I noticed that he had been standing in front of the window for a long time, leaning against a stand, talking to the sales clerk about something. It was taking too long to buy a train ticket. There are not that many trains, so one would think that buying a ticket would be easy. Nevertheless, the reason why it is taking so long may be because the man is not buying a ticket, but simply making small talk. There was such a long, quiet air in the hall of the large station building that it made me think so.
