Walking through the Fort district of the old city of Galle, which is designated as a World Heritage site, I noticed a conspicuous structure in the absence of taller buildings in the vicinity. It was the clock tower. At the base of the clock tower, figures with umbrellas were walking. Compared to the shadow, I could clearly see how tall it was.
Unfortunately, the clock tower, which rises near the Moon Bastion as if glaring at its surroundings, cannot be climbed and can only be seen from below. If we could see the surroundings from the top of the clock tower, we would be able to see not only the old town, which juts out into the sea like a peninsula, but also the new town, and the view would be wonderful.
